Im having issues with the exhaut manifold gaskets failing on me every few thousand miles. Looking at the exhaust manifolds themselves they seem to have warped and this obviously isnt helping matters.

I have taken them to several machine shop snow but been told they cant do it, mostly because they cant get the manis into their machines, or a good enough hold on them to do the work.

Has anyone had experience of this, or can anyone recommend me someone who can do the work or indeed any solution as im getting fed up of replacing the gaskets every other month!

Have you tried putting a steel rule over each flange and then draw-filing them with a 2nd cut file? I've done that a few times on header flanges with good results.

Ditto, that's what I did.

I tried machine shops but they all declined due to the shape and holding them.

I had mine skimmed at Scholar Engines in Suffolk and no leaks after 5000 miles;the local TVR Indie uses them all the time for this service. A long way from you but could be worth considering if they were sent by courier.

Hi
Here are some photos of my manifold I sanded last year. I used an old plate glass shelf, who said that I would never find a use for them again? and attached 80 grade grit paper with gaffa tape.Took a good half an hour each side, but very satisfying to know that there is a good seal to the head.

Good luck

Steve

That's a nice job, would have saved me £100 ... but for what it's worth, that's what I paid to get mine done at Linley Engineering near Monmouth. I have another set I might get done, if they agree a good price to do 4 together I could get mine down there to coincide with yours.

Cheers,
Sam
