Road rage and CCTV
Discussion
Morning pistonheads collective,
On my way into work this morning I had to step back off a pedestrian crossing for a van and he clipped my foot as I retreated (I'm not injured but was a bit shaken up). The van driver then stopped 20 yards down the road and jumped out to threaten to beat me up and was really aggressive - particularly for 8am. He made all sorts of threats to assualt me, and then drove off. I took his reg number and phoned the Met police non-emergency number to report him and I now need to go to a police station to report the incident.
Question is, if it's not on CCTV (I couldn't see any cameras around) then what happens? Will he just get a knock on the door or get sent a letter? To be honest, if that's all that will happen I'd rather not report it because I don't want any recriminations. It's really obvious that I live closeby and I'm easily recognisable because I'm very tall.
The Met said it could be dangerous driving and maybe some kind of assault (not sure how, he didn't touch me) but it's difficult to prove his car went anywhere near me given that I have no witnesses and no injuries.
Anyone had a similar experience and able to offer up any advice?

I can't speak from experience of those circumstances but when somebody kept vandalising my car the police were only interested after it had happened several times.
So if the guy hasn't been reported for anything before then I reckon it'll just be noted. However, if you're not the first to make a complaint then they might have to do something (which I'd imagine would involve going and having a word at best).
Then again, in London, plod probably get about a million calls about road rage a day so perhaps not.

If it's not on CCTV he will more than likely get a knock from from the Police, not sure how serious they may want to treat it - technically he hit you so he should have stopped for the correct reasons to check you were ok, also he used threatening behaviour. They may treat this very seriously - then again knowing bib they may not be bothered if you aren't. Personally I'd have the the Police knock on his door and have a word - regarding reprisals they won't give him the address of the complainer - you will go down as c/o the local Police station.
ETA - the Police having a word might give him a fright - he may avoid you if he spots you. He sounds an arse and those that shout scream and threaten are the least likely to actually do anything.
