Lightweight modern performance cars

With all the talk of porky cars, it got me thinking. Are there many/any modern performance cars that could truly be considered lightweight?
Cars must be:
-Either in production now or have been in the past 10 years (UK market)
-Be performance orientated, they don't need to be hugely fast, but proper sporting and/or performance credentials required
-Be a proper mass production car that is or could be sold in any world market with full type approval
-Weigh less than 1200kg
-RWD would be an advantage, but not a necessity
-No kit cars
-No super/hyper cars
-Nothing costing over £60k
Obvious answer will be Elise and VX220. Although neither are proper world cars really.
MINI Cooper S would seem a strong candidate (bar the FWD bit
)
So what else?

I guess the closest you will get is an Elise.
I doubt there will be a more definitive answer because the car you are describing is not a world car which manufacturers are interested in making. Whilst most on PH would love such a car to exist, the market would be miniscule unfortunately. Hence, it remains a niche such as the Lotus (and even then once the Elise dies I doubt we will ever see such a car again for the price now that Lotus has made its intentions clear on where it wants to position itself in the market).
