I've recently bought a 1987 Porsche 924S which is proving itself not to be the most reliable machine I've ever owned.

Whilst trying to sort out a tow to a local garage to remedy a failed clutch, I noticed that the AA can offer cover even for a car as old as mine for £176 a year to include home start, relay, roadside assistance, and, surprisingly, the following garage costs:

"If you cover one car, you'll get up to 5 paid claims a year (£500 per time). You can add up to 3 more cars and the number of paid claim rises to 6 for the year. Cover will start 14 days from the date the rest of your cover begins and a £35 excess is payable per claim."

This to me sounds like a bargain if you're driving an older car that's more likely to break down, but does anyone have any experience of this service and whether or not they do pay out without a fight??? Of course it's only good value if you can actually use it, but I suspect my car might be worth covering this way...

I took it out when I purchased my Grand Cherokee during the snow, typically the snow melted when I collected the car and have only driven it 3 times since so haven't had the opportunity to break down and attempt a claim.

Not a bad cover at all when you breakdown call the aa, patrol arrives if he can repair you pay £35 excess and done if not can be recovered to your chosen garage and pass onthe garage details to the aa as long as work is agreed garage gets paid you pay the excess to the garage. The excess just gone up from £25, the garage needs to be vat registered and be clear on work required , generally you would be asked for history of the vehicle for any claim to be truely succesfull, if you want to know more pm me ,I work for them

Are there any conditions, for example age, mileage and FSH?
