Premier Rally - Sherwood Forest

Forgive my lack of knowledge but is this the same as, or very similar to, the Dukeries Rally? It links to Dukeries and has their logo on the site but I can't find much more info on it.

Where are the stages? Will they be in/around Sherwood Pines, as were the Dukeries or somehwere different?

Can anyone shed some info as to where the stages are to be held and the times, please.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Dukeries rally and would like to watch some of this one, too.

The Dukeries Motor club organise 2 main stage rallies each year - The Dukeries (BTRDA event) in June and The Premier Rally - normally November.

The Premier rally is normally a compact event run on the Sunday - with scruit and signing on in the morning and then tradtionially uses 3 stage locations. We did it in 2007 - it was 6 stages - two loops of 3. A couple of years ago they changed it to run the 2nd loop in the dark, which was great to watch. Sadly last year it didn't run.

So for this year it has been changed to single venue event - based 100% within Forest Pines (Sherwood)on road mileage at all. Because of this the max entry is 60 cars - and I'm pretty sure it's now full. Should make for a great days viewing - I'm hoping to head up there with the family.

I imagine the stage routes will be very similar to how they run them at the Dukeries Rally, then? And with it all being in the confines of 1 area, it'll be pretty easy to get to different parts of each stage?

I've only been once (Dukeries in June), enjoyed it, and can't wait to go again.

Just get there nic and early, walk in and follow the arrows / junction numbers until you find somewhere interesting. That's what i did for the Dukeries and i found a couple of cracking spots away from any crowds.

IIRC, scruti and all that stuff was around 7am but how long does it take? Will the action start about 9?

Very good idea to have a wander round early. Thanks for that. I'll also quiz the marshalls - they're always nice and friendly.

Do we know if the car park is available for spectators, or will it be like a paddock area for the competitors (as there's not gonna be any road miles it's gonna be somewhere)?

Thining of dropping by this Sunday but there is nothing on the website (http://www.premier-rally.co.uk/index.html) around parking, scrutineering, timetable.

Am not familiar with going to this kind of event so if anyone has info on where to leave the car, times etc that would be great!

Head for Sherwood Pines and follow the signs, I suspect the car park will be used for Spectators as the competing cars are being told to ignore the Car Park entrance and follow another route to the Service Area.

From the Final Instructions it looks like the First Historic Car is off at 0900 so if you're heading into the Stage, allow time to get in place before it goes live.

I'll definitely be there, it's only about 10 minutes from where i live. It should be a really good day out!

Don't spectate at the first few corners you find as it will get very busy as most people there will be casual spectators and lazy. Walk further in and you'll find it much quieter. Try and get there early too as the queue for the car parks can get very long.

Will there be a booklet/program available with the stage routes? If so, where would you buy it from?

Just got back. Really enjoyed the day although cold feet by the end of the day. A great job by all of the helpful marshalls and a really well run event. Stayed to the end for the extra bonus of seeing the cars with full lights on the final stage.

Missed the Quattro's and the 6R4's but made up by the abundance of MkII Escorts
