Hi Folks,

I have a current model Smax (late 2010 163ps Titanium) running on 18" alloys & expensive Michelins, all very nice but rubbish in snow/ice we had last year so I'm going to stick on some winter tyres.

The tyres I have used before and would like to use again are Hankook's and the best fitment for the S-MAX would be 215/60/16 which would give almsot identical rolling circumfrence as the 18"s I have at the moment.

The real question is what Ford rims can I use to mount these 16" tyres, there are a few styles of 16"'s from ford for the S-MAX but are there any fitment issues between model year. Also can I use C-max/Mondeo/Focus wheels if they have the same offset & stud pattern ?

Thanks in advance,

Richard

A quick Google turned some up http://www.fordonlineparts.co.uk/product/Ford_S-Ma...

It's likely that Mondeo wheels will fit. I think the 5 stud wheels all have the same PCD, just watch the offset.

If your looking for the cheapest option a set of steel 16" rims from a mk3 mondeo will fit ok smile just remember if going to steel rims they need a differant wheel nut to the alloys.

What happens when your car has alloys but a steel spare? No nuts supplied? Sure it looks odd(I've had to do it once) but surely if dangerous they would have to supply spare nuts with the steel spare too?

The steel spare have a different fitting on the hub which allows the base of the alloy style nut to secure it safely smile

They also have a very low speed limit, at least on the space saver ones.....

You get your squirty goo in a tin out. because the S-Max doesn't do a steel wheel option.
