the tvr griffith 4.3 for £5999 from tvr dean. in need of carpets, dash and a repaint.
is it worth a look, what sort of money would you expect to pay for a good example like this, 1992, 94k miles, no history available though, although they are apparently trying to get it from the previous owner.

any problems with the 4.3 to look out for, and what are the main costs involved ??

many thanks
nick

If its carpets, dash and repaint then its a decent buy. Suspect the list will be a tad more significant than that.
All of the 3 main breakers want big bucks for whats on offer. Never bought anyhthing off any of them.

Have you tried emailing the seller about the car? The response I got from him after asking simple questions was enough to put me off from wanting to buy it. The guys attitude sucked.

yeah as you say im sure there will be other items that end up needing attention and as a salvage dealer hes not likely to point out anything thats not obvious.

i spoke to glen on the phone and he seemed fine to talk to and was happy to talk. so cant complain about his attitude. but as you say, im sure there will be other items to look at once its on the ramp!

who are the other main breakers for tvr?

thanks

I think they'll be Bell Hill Garage & Douglas Valley Breakers.

I've been looking at that car for a while.

So its scruffy, there is some nervousness because the seller has some damaged stock.

All the other Griffiths on this website are listed for sale at between £8k and £25k.

He says in the add the number plate is worth £700-1000, I dont think it is, I wouldn't want it anyway. So maybe you could haggle the car to a bit closer to £5k?

From my perspective, I'm better with a shabby car, I dont mind a bit of DIY, I'd do the dash myself, I'd cut some carpets to shape and get them bound, if it needs a few suspension bushes, tyres and a wheel refurb that's not bother.

Engine doesn't bother me as long term I'd like to put an LS in it.

Gearbox? So what, big deal.

Diff, ok, might oneday have to spend a bit.

Its not the right buy for someone that wants a mint Griff cheap.

For me the crucial point is the chassis.

But none the less, with cash and a haggle someone needs to get it bought.

I have a car to sell and an arm in plaster, once those are fixed, if its stil there I'm off to Newcastle.

but you are still left with a car, with nil service history, 100k miles.....

for most, i'd guess there are better cars to start with as a project

the chap wont budge on price i offered £5500 cash and would of been up the next day to pick it up, wanted a griff the trackdays and hill climbing, thought it would be ideal, but have now bought a 4.0 chim in much better condition from less money happy days
