My tailgate gas struts seem to be having trouble keeping it up.rolleyes

Can they be "re-gassed" ?

Alternatively, plenty on Ebay but generally listed by car model not dimensions. Short of emailing each seller and asking if they'd measure them does anyone know if the Taimar ones are compatable with any more common modern cars?

There are some listed for caravans and campers by dimension and strength. Despite the tailgate being FG reckon there's still a fair bit of weight (and leverage) there, so strong enough but so strong as to damage mounting points or hinges?
45N, 100N or whatever doesn't mean a lot to me!

Have bought struts from these people for a wedge. They also do Re gassing of old struts.

On my Taimar, got some from Adrian Venn. They have adjusters, so that you can release some of the pressure to just hold up the hatch, without putting too much strain on it

When i bought my Taimar 11 years ago the struts didnt work.
The advice I received was that the "struts could cause distotion" of the hatchback lid.
I cut a length of 1" dia black plastic conduit to length & fitted a walking stick rubber ferule to each end.
A clip was attached inside the rear hatch to secure the "prop" in place (across rear of car) when not in use.
Total cost approx £5.

Thanks for the link, all sorted.

Got into a bit of banter with them about using a picture of my friends S Series on the website which ended up with a 20% discount!
