A gas strut will not fit an S1 or S2 as the boot opening is structurally different to the later (S3 onwards) models. Fitting a gas strut to an early S would require significant modification.

Griffinr, my boss is nice but not that nice

moffspeed we have it on file as a bonnet strut, can someone correct me on this?

For interests sake same strut is also found on the bonnet and boot of 400SE, and should measure 500mm between the centre of the ball ends when open.

As far as I know all S-Series bonnets are held aloft by a metal stay, although we have run a thread about conversion to a gas strut..could be a project for you.
