Please can some one give me some pointers on what they have done or what would be best to do?
The top hose in picture 1 is split and spraying all over engine bay and is the shorter of the 2 going into bulkhead I think? and other goes throug next to wing.

I have got some new silicone hoses to replace them and speaking to Tim at act he said that alot of guys remove the metal pipes.
Looking above the battery there are 2 that are connected in various places with rubber hose and look to have been leaking also.

It all looks like a pig of a job and would require the battery out as well? Not sure I can even get down to get at them, never mind replace those 6" 90 deg sections in the footwell.

Thanks for any adivce guys, oh and whould draining the coolant from swirl pot be low enough in the system to prevent it all draining into the footwell?

As the two heater hoses are in effect in a loop, going from the heater then up to the top of the bulkhead, then back down to the engine, you could only drain the heater by removing one of the hoses in the footwell. Conversely, when refilling you will have to bleed the heater at the top of the loop (adjacent to the bonnet lock). May be best to remove the ECU first when draining the pipes.

ACT supplied my straight pipes, I didn't ask but possibly they could do the bends into the heater matrix as well? Ask Tim, he is most helpful.

You certainly need to sort the problem especially if the footwell ones are leaking. The ECU is just there and if water gets in could be expensive.

You may be lucky just draining to below the swirl pot but if these hoses are that bad what condition are the others in? Safer to drain everything. While you are at it check that the swirl tank overflow, its rubber overflow pipe and the catch tank entrance are all clear, mine was caked solid with some aluminium crud and prevented excess pressure and thus coolant venting into the catch tank, the result: one of the passenger footwell hoses exploded showering boiling water everywhere, lucky no passenger at the time.

It is a pain in the arse changing them, battery, ECU and carpet bits better out of the way. As you say the worst bit is getting down there, young drivers wont appreciate this though!

Cheers guys,
Armed with the new picture I am going for it in the morning. (I may be stuck in the footwell for the next 100 years lol)

Had a brain wave for those short 90 deg hoses, taking some bioling hot soapy water in a flask to the garage, fingers crossed it will soften the silicone enough to get them in.
