Trying to arrange a bit of a corporate Go karting event for a few customers but having trouble in deciding on locations. I have only been go karting once and used a Daytona track near Esher, surrey.

Anyone recommend anywhere to go which is good for a corporate event and also a good location, will have customers from the South East, London, North East and a few from the home counties, plus that’s where I am.

Dates wise looking at something coming up to xmas and not sure if I want indoor or outdoor, I suppose outdoor is all dependant on weather?

Any recommendations?

Rye House is great but I'm not sure outdoors in winter and karting are a good mixture. biggrin

1. It's Karting, not Go-Karting
2. Buckmore Park is the best circuit in the South-East

What is the score with karting and rain, will it be called off or do they just let you go out on intermediate or extreme wet tyres?

This.

Also have a look on www.karting.co.uk where the track directory will help you out with locations and links to web sites where info on kart types available, costs etc are laid out.

+1 for Buckmore Park, especially as it's a corporate event you're planning - They run a reallt good corporate day, normally in the form of endurance events.

I've been to a few charity events there, and also a couple of corporate events that we've run through my company - They've always been excellent, which is of course helped by the fact that the circuit is fantastic

Buckmore seam very well set up for corporate events

My work used to do an event there every year, we did the karting, then they laid on food which was quite reasonable and a bar afterwards.

You go out on the same tyres, and drive slower, wearing a plastic overall.

Buckmore is very good but if you've got people coming form the north and the home counties as well I Daytona in Milton Keynes may be a better choice. A great track and again, very well set up for corp events. Also, very close to the M1 and national rail.

This is the issue Buckmore park does look good but it might be a bit too far for the people from the north east. Need something central

And its massive, massive fun - we had a monsoon half way though our last Karting event. Next group went out and the first bend was carnage, as people didn't realise just how much grip was reduced.

It also made things more competitive, as people were regularly making mistakes and spinning, meaning that positions were changing all the time. Makes it a more enjoyable spectator sport too!

Went to speed karts in warrington 2 weeks ago with a party of 20, I highly recommend, i think its the biggest indoor karting track in the UK, maybe wrong but an average lap of 1min 6seconds is a pretty big track, its on 3 levels has some real epic moments, check there website.

Dont know, it rained half way through the event I was at and they red flagged us immediately, the cars were totally undriveable in the corners. Not sure if they'd run with wets if it was raining from the start. Seriously, the track was like a skating rink even after a few drops of rain, proper scarey if you weren't expecting it, you'd litteraly just carry straight on at a corner... biggrin

OP - If you're southern based - try Thruxton - they have a good setup and track has a bridge!

Recently did a corporate race day at Daytona Milton Keynes - really good track, but a bit of a trek

A slightly left-field option for you: simulators.

http://puretechracing.com/ are based near Gatwick airport in the south and although it's a simulator, is brilliant fun - much better than any other sims I've played before. The racing gets the blood pumping and post-session chat going just as well as any real racing I've taken part in. They run an excellent corporate/party event and the premises are great and modern - always have one or two old open-wheel racing cars about to look at, an F1 engine on a stand, plus a bar that does paninis etc and a good chef if you fancied booking a proper meal.

Daytona MK: http://www.daytona.co.uk/

They sent us out on hard slicks in the pouring rain - probably the most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels.

There is one in Camberley which is easily accessed by the M3. I can say that the track is very good and the staff are brilliant.

The facilities are the best I've ever used at a go karting track, had loads of corporate events there and everyone has been impressed. Good track layout and kart quality too.

It's about 5 minutes from central MK so loads of food options if you want to go for a meal afterwards.

If you end up short on numbers I'm local enough to make up a spot wink
