Film 4, yesterday and ITV 2 week signal?
Discussion
Hi all
I run a fairly old freeview box / hdd recorder that has done me proud now for 3 or 4 years, and every now and then the good people in charge of the channels retune everything and kill off some channels and rename others etc. You know what I mean. Anyway after the last retune (about 3 to 4 weeks ago) when dave ja vu went part time and pick tv appeared Film 4, Yesterday and ITV 2 have become un watchable, sticking every 1 to 2 seconds, breaking up (all the symptoms of a weak signal) yet all the other channels still work perfectly. I have rebooted, re tuned etc. Nothing else has changed and I am reluctant to start mucking about with the aerial for fear of loosing everything.
Does any one else in my area have this (Bidgwater, Somerset) At the moment I am hoping it will sort itself out on the next re tune of stations. Have they retuned to a frequency that older boxes cant use? Any ideas welcome.
Oh i am using a booster by the way. And all worked fine untill the recent "etune your box..."
Cheers

ITV2 and others have been absolutely unwatchable for us since about March (no big loss
)
I suspect they are buggering around for the big switch over next March here so I'll wait. We are in a pretty weak signal area anyway so not bothered with a booster.
Funny how the BBC channels are OK (the ones we pay for allegedly).
This is Meridian region by the way, fed from the Isle of Wight transmitter.

Hi
Im guessing you are on mendip transmitter?
Have you checked to make sure your tv is not tuning into weaker siganls from wales and oxford? tvs/freeview boxes tune from the lower frequencies and go up higher. so if as is the case in somerset the mendip frequencies are higher than the welsh, the box locks onto wales 1st.
If you have a manual tuning facility then i would suggest you do that. start by doing a factory reset/1st time install with the aerial unplugged. this will clear the memory completley. then using manual tuning (assuming you are on mendip, this data is not for other transmitters) dial in the following rf channels (aerial plugged in again)
48, 52, 54, 61 and 67 (also58 if you have freeview hd)
These are the correct frequencies for mendip
The transmitters are not yet upto full power and wont be until everyone has gone digi (including france) but bbc and itv should be strong .
Once youhave donethis you can check the signals on bbc1(1) itv(3) itv3(10) picktv(11) and yesterday(12) if you have these channels and the signals are strong then you should be good to go. also check you have no other equipment outputing signals on similar frquencies (eg old videos, sky or virgin boxes) Broadband routers and dect phones can also cause interference.
Hope that helps
Cheers

Ok chaps will give all of that a go now that I am back home, thanks for the input. Will keep you posted as I have not tried manual tune, it may be that some channels are locked onto Wales, good point that. So far I have just deleted Film 4, Yesterday, various channel 4 versions and an ITV derivative as they are terrible.
All the shopping channels work perfectly though and always have...deleted on general principal of course.
