1st BAT day. 1st Oulton session. Breakfast served?

Is there any food at Oulton before a BAT day? Or should I get something down me before I arrive?

P.s. anybody else going? If my car is fast that'll be Dakkon driving. If it's in the barrier it'll be me.

It'll be open and doing breakfast stuff, circuit prices but it's a lot better than it used to be

Food was good enough!

I believe we took the prize for most overtaken car of the day. Unfortunately an Exige may have come to the end of it's useful life after an argument with a tyre wall.

Yea that was me in the exige although it looked bad it is repairable as it was mainly body work

Dropped it off at the dealers last night and the insurance are going to sort it out

I'm just glad you are ok! I was worried when I came past and you were still in the car.

Having insurance has paid off! Be good if it can be fixed.

Well the door wouldn't open anyway because the rear clam had Pushed into the window until the Marshall said to wind the window down
It is literally just the clams and under trays so it will just be a case of swapping and respraying
The clam did its job anyway by taking all the impact and shattering the way it did as I went straight into the tyre wall at 120mph at least

Never nice to hear about someones P+J getting damaged on track but glad you've lived to tell the tale.

Don't underestimate how much clam replacement costs ( thank the lord for insurance) but make sure the chassis is straight (you can't repair Elise chassis) and toe links / suspension etc - get the geo re-done after all the repairs.

yea had a good luck around at the chassis and it all seemed ok and i think the clam took the force
had a look at the suspention and the toe links too because they are both upgraded and they looked ok
its gone to chris neils in northwich anyway so i know it will be right when it gets back and what needs to be done will be done

Sorry to hear about your mishap, Jamie - thank goodness you are okay! Whereabouts did the incident occur? Oulton can be very tricky if "it's damp", as grip is not consistent around the circuit.

Hope you get the car sorted soon.

Dentons on the way to cascades was where the black lines and grass marks started. He finished up in the tyres to the right of cascades. So a goodly long way to travel, but the grass must have offered bugger all grip!

Scary place to have an off. Last time I saw a car go off there it was Kelvin Birt in a Volvo but he went left. (been a while since I visited... )

yea it was just on the little kink of denton's and had been taking the same line and speed all day (flat ) and it just decided it wasn't going to have it.
the track was bone dry too

i'll find out how long it will take to fix tomorrow and then i'll be booking trackdays for the new year

hmm thats a fair point to be honest as one of the rear wheels was wonky when it came back but could of happend in the crash i dont know
they were the upgraded ones from pheonix too
will see what paul says from CN's when he gets chance to have a look around it

It was mid-afternoon so probably track cooling, see it all the time at winter track days at Oulton, about mid afternoon the temperature starts to go down and you get people going off.

I have a good friend with a motorsport restoration and engineering company in Bolton who now does a lot of Exige and other glued alloy fabricated chassis repairs, they have worked with bonded alloy and composite structures for many years and repairs are to an exceptional standard, at a sensible price.
