Well after several times in a car I have decided to try a more sedate if more energetic means of traveling round the French Alps next year. The coach is booked to deposit me, bike, tent, kitchen sink in Valence and pick up again 3 weeks later in Lourdes.
If all goes according to plan
I should experience the joys of climbing the col de la Machine - combe Laval, Alpe d'Huez, col d'Izoard, col de Vars, col de Bonnett, the Verdon Gorge, Mt Ventoux and the Col de Tourmelet. Also spend a little time in Chateauneuf de Pape and at Pont du Gard, as well as possibly catching the start/ finish of a couple of Pyranean stages of the TdeF.
Think I had better get my fat arse out training, oh and buy a 22T chainring :P
