Agreed. sleep

What about one of these:

(I've never tried one, but always quite fancied them)

Megane will struggle to top 30mpg unless you drive at 70mph or less.

How about either of these? Not 35mpg unless you're a saint, but both will easily return >30mpg combined - I recently got 34mpg in my DC2 on a run to Blackpool and back, doing 80-85 on the M-way when conditions permitted.

The DC2 looks a little overpriced (can get a good one for <£5k now), but in it's defence that's probably one of the nicest UKDMs you'll see...so maybe it is worth it?!?)

I did exactly the same in 2009. frown Just made me all the more determined to get back behind the wheel of something interesting.

12 months of over time and I was in the meggy. smile

OP - small hot hatch is the probably your best bet. Clio 197?

If you dont mind something a little older a volvo S or V 40 T4, the 1.9s were the best engines i've heard. 200 bhp and a realistic 35mpg when i had mine. and unlike other cars they dont shout 200bhp
