Has anyone used a power pack to run a trickle charger?
Discussion
I have just bought a Ring Power Pack, which I needed for other stuff. My garage doesn't have a power supply and never will have - don't ask, long story - but it has just occurred to me that I could perhaps use the Power Pack to run a trickle charger. Any views? Will this work or cause problems?

only if you have a cut off switch, the battery is down in the passenger footwell,in a single garage try getting to that!

TBH guys I wouldn't expect it to be the greatest solution ... Using a 12v to 230v inverter to power a 230v to 12v charger isn't exactly efficient.
Surely better to just disconnect the battery, no?

I wonder what happens when the power pack runs out of charge as well. Presumably whatever has trickled into the car battery stays there and doesn't wonder back to the power pack. I could unplug the battery as suggested, but then the alarm and immobiliser would be out of action immediately whereas, with a trickle charge, the alarm etc would work right up until the whole lot went flat.
You want one of these.

I use one to issolate the winch on my Disco and I have another one that I've had for 3 years that I never have had the time, (or inclination) to fit to the chim, really simple idea.

What you've all been waiting for...the answer to this little conundrum.
The answer to the question of whether you can run a trickle charger from a powerpack is NO. Definitely no. They seem to kick out a lot of power for a small amount of time, for jump starting and so on, but can't run a trickle charger. At least, they can't when the battery is a bit flat and needs topping up. Ring make some real monster powerpacks but I think the answer will be the same and some of them weigh forty-odd kilos so lugging one of them around when you want to recharge is not going to be fun.
