Just got a speeding fine through in the post from the Swiss. Was there recently in a German registered hire car and they have tracked me down via the hire car company

Are saying if I don't pay up a criminal investigation will start

Do I just ignore it ( as I donwith Italian fines) or are they more strict!?

Do you intend to go to Switzerland or rent a car with that company again?

I say ignore it, doubt 'neutral' Switzerland can do FA about it unless you go back there.

Your expensive watch will inexplicably stop working and you'll start heating cowbells at night and dream of being eaten by little blue smurfs, or possibly nothing else will happen.

If you don't pay it, you will be barred from ever buying a Toblerones again. Not worth it. Pay up.

How much is the fine? I know it goes against the standard PH answer but you could just pay up.

Based on what ive heard about how the Swiss deal with speeding drivers, if you step foot in their country again, your car will be crushed, your possessions repossessed, your family sent to Siberia to count trees, and you'll be hung drawn and quartered, and the remains loaded into a rocket and fired into the sun.

Long story short, i wouldn't go back.

Mate of mine used to live in Switzerland and picked up a speeding ticket. He left and went to live in France for a few years. When he moved back to Switzerland, the fine arrived in the post.

The Swiss appear to be very good at keeping track of these things.

2 choices on this

Pay it now and go back any time you want
Don't pay the fine but don't ever go back on your own passport!

Pay the fine - the Swiss never forget....
