Boeing 707 138B Sydney to heathrow

I have been wondering recently did QANTAS operate their special long range 707's on the kangaroo route as we know it now ie Sydney, fuel stop in the middle east/asia then on to heathrow? I have tried googling but i keep geting conflicting info so i thought i would ask on here.

I'm sure they did. Hopwever, QANTAS eventually purchased the more modern and larger 338C version of the 707.

Thanks Eric. So according to John Travolta the flight time was 27 hours as opposed to 23 nowadays. http://l1011.homestead.com/boeing707.html Hardly a huge amount of progress considering that was happening in 1959, QANTAS reckon it will take me 20 hours 30 mins on a 744. Im gutted I'm not going to be on an A380 even though I'm going Heathrow to Singapore which is the route the A380's take.

Not much progress speed wise but MASSIVE progress in improving fuel efficiency, aerodynamics, exhaust emmissions and noise levels.

I love the old classic jet airliners but they are stone age technology wise in comparison to the latest airliners.

No I am departing Heathrow at 1105. Now that i look at it on my itinerary it says it's flight number 32 which on here http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/a380-sche... appears to be a A380, although it says the Jet is a 744 on the itinerary. Good god i hope i get on a A380 at one point.

They had issues with another 380 lat week, so maybe swapped out for 744 (747-400 ER)

32 has normally always been an A380 in the past year or so although looking at their schedules looks like this one is going to be alternating. 2 is normally a Jumbo. 10 to Melbourne is either one or the other although this is now looking like an A380 everyday now. You should be able to look up the exact day on the website and work it out.

Looks like last weeks engine failure on the other 380 (that went to Dubai) may have been fixed and they may get their flights sorted out agin in a few days....
