Hello all,
I have a 156 2.0 veloce and i'm getting heavy wear on the inside edge of the rear tyres.
just over a year ago a replaced all 4 tyres (first set since i bought the car) since all 4 had worn on the inside edge. I got a proper 4 wheel alignment done at the time.
A few months ago a noticed that the rears were wearing in the same way again (fronts are fine) so i got the tracking done again, and also had the car checked over for anything that might be causing it. Nothing was found.
So now one of the rears has worn to the point it will need replacing pretty soon, and the other in a few months probably, and i strongly suspect that they are still wearing unevenly. Is there anything obvious/likely that could be causing this?
Also i would ideally replace only the tyre that needs doing and do the other in a few months, just to spread the cost a bit. Is this advisable or is having one brand new and one nearly worn out tyre likely to give and "interesting" handling characterstics.

I had a similar issue on my Veloce a year ago. Not quite as severe as yours, but I replaced the rear hub bushes as there was quite alot of play in them, had the alignment done on a proper system (not the crappy laser one that only does the fronts) and all has been fine since. Worth to see how the hubs are doing and if you're getting movement.
Incidently, if your fronts do the same..can be the ball joints having too much play. Then, you need to replace the whole lower arm if this is the case.
