Looking for a new Bargain Barge
Discussion
Looking around for a new car for my Dad as the E32 is a bit passed its best.
Thinking of something old but reliable along the lines of W123, W124, W126, possibly an E38 or E39 BMW, Volvo 850, V/S70, LS400 Lexus ETC. Or possibly a convertible of some sort.
Looking around £1k upto £1.5k for something outstanding but less is better to keep some aside for any niggles etc that need fixing.
A 540/740 or 500SE/L SEC etc could be ok if someone is selling cheap as the market for larger engines seems pretty small at the moment.
Let me know if you know of any.

I had a look for something, but nothing of interest popped up.
I was mainly asking in here incase anyone knew of a car being traded in locally or knew anyone with one not being used much who would like the space on the driveway back.

I might go check out that one but seems a little overpriced to those further afield.

There is a £1k Lexus over on http://www.northern-monkey-offroad.co.uk/index.php but you'd have to register to see it, I can't recall where the chap lives.
My Audi 90 is now becoming a moving driveway obstacle, not exactly a barge but comfortable, silly reliable and solid in good condition with the benefit of being the sporty model with circa 200 brake and lovely hoonable handling.
Price is negotiable too but definitely fits well in to your range!

Didn't you post this up in general gassing a few weeks ago?
I stand by my A8 3.7 Quattro suggestion.
I posted this at the same time incase anyone local had anything.I stand by my A8 3.7 Quattro suggestion.
I am looking at a couple of cars that should be nice, we are just waiting to hear about one before viewing another so hopefully will be sorted out shortly.
I looked in a few places but couldn't find any A8's in budget although i was offered a 4.2 recently but income is low so the smaller engined cars we are looking at will be better on fuel by quite a bit, especially going from a larger auto to a smaller manual.
