Trickle charging...

Hello.

In my current Chimaera I don't have Andersen leads, in the past I did - and put it on trickle charge through them whenever not in use.

So.


Is it possible to use a trickle charger that can go through the cigarette lighter when the ignition is off?

I use a ctek one to do just that in the Tuscan

It works perfectly. You do need a certain model/output, can't remember which mine is. I will look later

The only issue with using the cigarette lighter is that it's fused so I've ended up with a flat battery on occassion when it's gone.
I've fitted the charging harness that comes with the accumate accross the battery terminals and so it's equally easy to plug the charger direct to that.

I've always used an accumate plugged into the fag lighter. I think they have a fixed charging current of 1.2A so no worry blowing fuses. It was a bit expensive at £45,000 but I did get a free Tuscan 2 with it

Used the accumate trickle charger + cigarette attachment for 2 winters - works fine.

Accumate on all my cars not used every day for 3+ years. The C-Tek died inside a year...

Use an optimate charger on the Griff through the cigar lighter,works great but i also use a solar charger from Maplins on my bike that comes with a cigar lighter option that costs only a tenner,works fantastic and highly reccomended for the little cash it cost

I went for the basic Acumate (6 and 12 volt option) from Leven when they were around so guess the same basic model will suit your needs just as well. If you shop around you should find one easy enough.
