Spotted on another topic, I hope the photographer and thread starter won't mind if I pull up a new thread...

Originally located at http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... the image is this:

What on earth is this car? It looks so old fashioned, so oddly proportioned (like a black cab) that I can't imagine any mainstream manufacturer producing it, let alone in the US market where size and status seem to count.

So what on earth is it?

No idea what it is though.

From the thread it was lifted from, it seems that the picture was probably taken in Oklahoma...

Heading south as well, which means it's come from the US or Canada - anything Chinese or Korean would come from California and wouldn't go that way.

The next pic (taken within 1 hour) is of the world's largest McDonalds - which is in Vinita Oklahoma.

Which probably doesn't help 1 bit smile

The London cab comment threw me when I read this earlier, suddenly realised where I'd seen this thing:

So...it's a Crown Vic with a taxi body on top? Would have made an excellent cab for NYC.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

But seriously, WTF?

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/06/2011-vpg-autos-...

Styling is bizarre and the engine is a 4.6 litre V8 from a Ford Crown Victoria. And despite that, they're not actively marketing them as taxis.

Funny that it's made in the old Hummer factory because it appears to have nicked it's door handles...

here is the reply I got on another forum:

Also, those black boxy vehicles with the white plastic are taxis (first set of pics). They were designed by VPG of Troy, Michigan and are built by AM General and use Ford 4.6Ls.
