The gf just picked up a steal of a Ford KA at the weekend as her first car.

2003 Collection in Burgandy red with 53K on the clock for £1600. 1 former owner who took pride in it, as the car is in mint condition.

Just checked the service book and its due one in December. Anyone know what would need doing, or worth doing a major service to be on the safe side?

Best do all the filters (oil, air, fuel and Pollen(?)) and spark plugs as these like to seize into there seats (use copper slip on the new ones threads). Also I think this age will have the ROcam engine so there will be a timing belt to replace. Do you have the old invoices for work done?

No havent got the information on what was done previously. I'll ask the dealer we brought it from if he has anything else documents wise.

A stamped service book doesn't mean the work has been done unfortunately, Full service as I listed above to be safe.

Yeah thats true. Took it out last night and the brakes feel a little bit soft. I'll get them checked as well.

Brake fluid change should be performed every 2 years, however it's one of those things that gets neglected. Also check the rear brake shoe automatic adjusters. these are are metal cams with a ratchet on, they wear then slip giving long brake pedal travel.
