possible 240VAC kick... feel slightly duff

Saturday I plugged in an iphone charger and it went bang, big flash, tripped the mains.

At the time I'm pretty sure I jumped back but ever since I've felt a bit off. I don't know whether I'm just fine and being a girl or whether it might be something. My heart feels like it's fluttering quite a bit.

Other than that I feel ok. Bit off colour but nothing really.

Can make you feel out of sorts! Years ago I knocked my shoulder against a garage ramp isolator and got a mild shock from 415volts, I didn't feel right for about 2 months and seemed to pick up lots of colds weirdly. Should pass with time!

You get used to it. After half a dozen you barely notice it.

As a former laser printer engineer, I got a few digs in the past, now I barely feel it.

Is there any chance this sort of thing could have caused an irregular heart rhythm?

(I have no medical background whatsoever so please ignore me if this is a total bks though)

This. It's funny that I was working with 22kv until recently on a big ass radar and obviously super-careful and no mishaps. Plug an iphone charger in and boom! haha

You'll be fine, your domestic RCD (assuming you have one) trips out at 30mA earth leakage which is only roughly a third of the amount required to kill you.

I regularly touch 25kV lines without detriment. Having said that they are isolated and earthed.

Not wanting to overreact, but it may be worth visiting your GP. I've also worked on high power kit and if any of the lads ever received a kick from the mains, they would be sent for an ECG just in case.

I have had a few mains potential shocks over the years. They don't seem to get any less "shocking". I don't just mean the mains voltage part. It is possible but unlikely that you got a mains potential shock. When it happened, your brain would have briefly gone into self-preservation mode and launched your hand (arm, upper body... etc) back as quickly as your muscles can go. This can be damn painful. It would also inject a load of adrenaline into your bloodstream that gives you the jitters. It can feel like a shock even if there was no actual electrical discharge. The bruising within the muscle is kinda like bad cramp and can leave a nasty ache for a few days.

In your shoes, I would put my mind at rest and either visit a drop in centre (assuming they have any cardio measurement gear) or go to casualty and see what they say.

I would be very surprised if you got a shock from a double insulated plastic charger, a shock as in "oh that made me jump" yes, a 240VAC electrical current, no!

speaking from experience they make the limb that touched it a bit tingly, and if like me you grab 240 with your left hand and earth with your right while stood on an insulated surface, you fall over and black out and wake up with your heart doing about 60,000,000bpm but after a couple of minutes you are fine!

If it helps my small dog (jack russel) bit through a extension cable a while ago.

She looked spooked as hell and kinda weird for about an hour, but no obvious burs etc. She was fine after that time period so I think a man of significantly more body mass should be fine from a minor shock.

She is properly tough for her size though .....
