I noticed near me a while ago the councils have filled up the yellow road grit boxes by the side of the roads. I noticed yesterday as I went past one that it's been opened and is half empty...

Near where our stables are they only put grit and sand in, there's no salt at all which is a pain as we're on a hill right on a corner.

I thought it was for council workers to use when it gets icy. Even if its for residents to use, at the moment where I am it's not even chilly. So what, we are supposed to be able to 'stock up' for our own uses? confused

Do they still supply a dog-eared emergency porn mag in there too?

You know you can go down to the local depot with a container and they'll give you some if you like? It's not really stealing.

Its suppose to be for the paths and roads isnt it? Not your driveway. Our bin is half empty already, last year it was empty when I got to it, one half of the estate had nice clear gritted drives and the rest of us had to do without. tts.

If you want to request a grit bin for use in your community, please use the 'send a message to Northline Environmental' link detailed in the 'contact us' box.

What do you think it's for?

I don't see anything wrong with people grabbing a couple of buckets worth just now for their driveway when the time comes. You know you can go down to the local depot with a container and they'll give you some if you like? It's not really stealing.
Depends where you are, the ones by me are specifically for use on road/pavement, not 'personal use' as it were.

Edit: although obviously I don't see what's wrong with taking some for your drive, steps, etc. as it's not like you can do much about having a house where these are features - and as long as you're not taking the piss you are paying for it.

Get revenge. Trip on their cleaned drive and sue them. You will win. If they do the same on your untreated drive, they will lose. Apparently!!
