Inspired by the "2. them really really old cars (like rovers from early 90's " comment. From here

How old is your car and what do you class as really old? And should they still be allowed on todays roads (Drum brakes/poor acceleration etc)?

Hi

My main car is from ~2000. Still have a 1991 Alfa 33 as well. Better halfs car is from 2003. Toy car was built in 1989 and registered in 1991.

See no reason to ban any older car from the road (and banning things as they are less safe by a negligable amount is a slippery slope - say goodbye to bikes and kit cars).

All the best

My car is from 2002, and I would class it politley as "getting on in life", but by no means old. Old to me is anything earlier than the 90's.

With reagrds to you second point, old cars should most definitley be banned from the roads. Something like a McLaren F1 from 1993 is so slow it is most certainly dangerous rolleyes

Vitesse = 1967
MX5 = 1989
Rover 45 = 2001 (which is a brand spanker by my standards!)

1999, so not THAT old. Worthless, though.

Anything older than 1980 is old. 90's cars are almost new!

My daily was built in '89.

My newest (not including the bikes) is 2001. In fact that is the newest car I have ever bought. I don't really like new cars too much, they just don't seem to be as interesting.

Doesn't matter how old a car is, it's how it's been maintained.

1987 - E reg. I class mine as old, but then when I see something really old it makes me feel like I drive a modern car. I mean, my E reg has central locking, and electric windows.

1993, the oldest car I've ever owned. Some people think it's ancient, some relatively new! I class it as an old car now but care not a jot biggrin

The Saab is 1990, the Alfa '98. Most people I know think the Alfa is old, and the SAAB is ancient.

But I tend to think of anything post 1990 as modern, and anything made this century still seems new.

The youngest car in our 'fleet' is my Wife's '51' plate VW Sharan.

I drive an '89 Nissan Z32 TT and a '95 Shogun V6 regularly and in my garage I have Opel Monzas of '85 and '81 vintage respectively.

Purely out of choice.
