Change from sleeved to Standard exhaust
Discussion
Standard exhaust ACT Y piece with trackday silencers.. 105bd to 95db. sounds very aggressive when you boot it but nice and calm on steady driving ..I gave it a quick blip at the end of the video.

Been running a standard exhaust for a couple of years but recently been thinking of being more antisocial.
Have no intention of doing track days so not worried about being loud and - most importantly - my 5 year old Godson absolutely *LOVES* "Uncle Phil's Noisy Car"...

I'm pondering the same.Have no intention of doing track days so not worried about being loud and - most importantly - my 5 year old Godson absolutely *LOVES* "Uncle Phil's Noisy Car"...

Don't fancing de-catting as the mere thought of getting the manifolds/Y piece off gives me the shivers...
Thinking of splitting it where it's clamped to the downpipe and opening the silencer box up and putting straight through pipes in...
One of the seemingly increasingly long list of things I need to do on mine is reseat the OSF manifold to Y-piece joint ... it's been sooty around the clamp ever since I got it and you can hear it blowing under load. I've tried nipping up the clamp a bit tighter but I reckon if I go much tighter I'll break the clamp.
Did get asked by a couple of people when I got the Tiv whether I was going to sleeve the exhausts and I resisted doing so but I really do fancy something that pops and bangs a bit more and upsets the local tree huggers.

Phil, loosen the clamp a tad, use a soft mallett and tap the Y piece near to the joint while tightening the clamp simultaneously, (10mm socket), you will then close the joint up.

Check the other side, it will probably want reseating and tightening as well.
I've had my sleeved exhaust for a couple of years now but I am also thinking of changing back. For long drives I have to wear ear defenders and I'm getting a bit fed up with it TBH (although I do LOVE the noise on shorter trips!). Leaning towards the ACT sports at the moment or maybe get a pair of cherry bombs stuck inside the empty silencer box.
A quick cure is to fit the insert type silencers,i keep mine in for long periods and do not look odd. They reduce the noise by a good 10db and make long distance driving more comfortable.Mine are secured with two self tappers.

I stick them in when revving the car in the garage to stop the grumpy neighbours moaning..

but not wearing on long distances.
