Hi,

day 2 of new ownership and we have a intermittent spanner light and "OIL" sometimes also.

Could someone take a photo of the relevant page on the owners manual?

i hope its related to service indicator, and not oil pressure. but brought from a dealer so not too fussed.

cheers

chris

Have you checked that there is any oil in the engine?

'Spanner' and oil means oil service, I would have thought, that it what it means on other VAG products that I have come across.

Just had one, its CAT C just repaired MOT etc and purchased from the garage,

So need to reset the bd, and make sure its not oil pressure warning as that would be nicht gud considering the old dear is driving it to heathrow tonight.

Get the garage to reset the computer, if it keeps coming back i'd imagine it'll be a faulty sender somewhere.

Just reset it - ours was properly serviced and the car was on fixed interval servicing (10K miles or 1yr on the 1.2S) but it still came on 2-3 times per year completely at random.

I forget the exact sequence now - something like press and hold the trip reset button for 10sec while the ignition is on. It's in the manual or you can Google for it.

Cheers, however it might not be that, it could possibly be low oil pressure warning, as it is intermittent. If it was service i would expect it on all the time.

Does it look like the one in the first post: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1...

I'd reset it and see ehat happens.

The oil pressure light is elsewhere.

No owners manual.
Service and or warning lights on the dash two days after picking it up.

Nice.

purchased from a dealer so if in doubt, dump it back on their doorstep.

CAT C relates to roof panel damage.

but yes, not great, but 3 month dealer warrenty as required by law

You see that mentioned soooo often, yet it's completely wrong. Where does it come from?

well i suppose within 3 months you can argue that the problem was there when the car was sold, so is sale of goods act.

however in this case the car comes with 3 month warrenty, underwritten by the dealer.

Well, that's 6 mths. It by no means black & white though, so good luck on a cheap car, especially one that was a write off.

You'll find it won't cover things like "there's a warning light on". If the oil pump fails and the engine throws a rod through the block then you'll probably be OK, although the claims limit is unlikely to cover such an event.

its the service indicator, just turned it off all good.

No, im sure it doesnt cover there is a warning light on, but it does cover "my oil pump has failed" or, my engine has seized due to critical part failure.

claims limit is double the cost of the car.

keep calm, dont panic.
