Carbon fibre door cards.

Well after changing the colour of my car over 3 years ago I have finally got round to sorting the inside to go with the white.
One of the things I have decided to do is get some CF door cards made. ( also having a CF dash done)
I am seeing if anyone else would be interested ?

They will be in pre preg carbon , 1 ply of 245g 2x2 twill backed with further 2ply of 250-300g. At the mo I have just got the price for the actual door cards excluding the fittings and door pocket.
I am seeing if I can get a new door pocket that will take or incorporate a cup holder.

These get cheaper the more made ( to offset the mould costs.)
so price would be as follows...

4 sets ( I am having 1 so need 3 more ) - £ 650 per set.
6 sets - £ 550 per set
10 sets - £ 490 per set.

No pics yet, as they have not been made yet. waiting to see how much interest to offset the cost of the moulds.

Why Pre-preg?
I know it's the best but surely it's not a structural part, is it?
Wouldn't wet-lay or a GRP backed 0.3-0.5 sheet of carbon do just a good a job?

I think an opportunity is being miassed to redesign the door card with regards to the recessed handle for pulling the door shut.

I like that feature. My cigs and lighter fit nicely in it. :-) .Plus after spending days stripping my door cards of the cloth and all the contact adhesive the last thing i wanted to do was start messing with them.

im happy with the std door card design... might want something to replace the plastic like the pull handle and recess to actually pull the door shut.

can we get the card blank so that we have to cut these parts out instead of them coming with the holes already... give us option to find nicer solutions?

I suspect pre-preg has been specified for the finish rather than the improved structural qualities.

i really want to see how they turn out - do you think they will make more of them ?

could you ask them how much to do some CF side pods that are wider than stock ?

Yes they can do more, however they will be at the single price eg no discount for single orders.

As for the side pods. Just would not be worth while. by the time you make the pugs then the moulds they would be stupid money. plus not that many people would want them as they would project out further than the mirrors and would be the first thing to get ripped off in a close gap situation.....

I hate the standard ones.

Will it just match the existing?

Can we get a CF bit to replace the bit on the arm rest next to the gear stick? Plus the dashboard area around the dials and warning lights?
