Just wondering if anyone can recommend a reflective heat sleeving or matting material for insulating the air intake.

I've removed the airflow meter as part of my megasquirt installation and installed the manifold air temperature sender in its place. I’ve also fitted an ACT smoothbore pipe.

I’ve got the mapping pretty much spot on now but now have a problem when I park up for a short period of time e.g. at a petrol station. I get a lot of heat soak into the air temp sender and on restart the ECU leans out the fuelling to compensate for the
higher temperature and what it perceives as a lower mass flowrate of air going in to the engine.

This is a PITA for the first few minutes of driving if I’m in traffic as the car won’t idle correctly and stalls if I don’t keep the revs up.

Buuble wrap followed by ally tape seems as good as anything, you can cover with proper glass based insulation material if you like.

ETA: move the sensor further away from the engine, I prefer them mounted in silicone TBH as they always seem to get affected by heat soak whatever folks insist about them only measuring at the tip....
