I have been recommended 2 local engineers. One is specialist in Remeha and the other is Worcester Bosch. I'm aware of the warranty differences and the downsides of a combi boiler.

House is 4 bed detached, one bathroom, only kitchen tap and shower/sink draw on the h/w. 10 radiators. I haven't checked flow rate yet, but pressure seems good.

Boiler will be like for like in terms of location (wall mounted, kitchen, plenty of ventilation, clear access, etc)

For a plain replacement of boiler/pump (I can strip out the old gear/tank once isolated), how much should I expect, and how long should it take?

(this is the first time I've ever had to commission such work)

Make very clear you are stripping and keeping the tank/scrap - there's a good £100-worth there and it may affect the quote.

I paid 1400 for a Vailant combi earlier this year.

This was the cheapest quote, but the guy did a good job.
