Hi Guys I'm buying my new house - nothing like Grand Designs unfortunatly but a small 5 bed (5th one in the roof)

I'm looking at insulation to the old regs and frankly don't know where to start.

I know I need a SAP calc but for them to start I need to tell them what I propose using.

My drawings were done by a new build tech and he advises using blown insulation after building. B Layer says thats more expensive but as I'm building NOW (IE in the wet) I think blown might be a better idea.

Still have blocks / floor and roof insulation to consider too.

HELP !

You'll need to put the floor insulation in, when laying the floor, guessing it's a solid one.. As for walls, what size cavity are you going for? This will determine how thick the insulation will need to be. You can work most of this out if you visit the Celotex website and use their online calculator... or if that's too expensive consider Knauf/Crown Dritherm "32" wall slabs or better.. There are other items to consider wrt to SAP calcs.. and you'll need a water useage calc as well.

You also need to inform them what fuel you will be using to heat the place.

Therefore you might want to look at air source heat pumps/ solar panels etc.

ESPECIALLY if its oil you are going to use.
