Chaps, does anyone have any knowledge of current realised prices for M12s (I don't mean an advertised price but an actual sale price you know of via yourself or someone you know who has sold one/bought one)?

Note: Not very scientific I know but I can't build a single poll for multiple car types. Let's not get into mileage, colours or options at this stage - just whatever you think a 'typical 3R' is. Thanks.

I`m really not sure that`s a useful poll. Mileage, condition, options, whether is a `CAT` car etc make a huge difference to prices....

You may be right. How would you assess what a 3R might realise then Bob?

Also, judging by how long the currently advertised ones have been hanging around for I reckon you should add a further option "Ended up keeping it" biggrin

I'm also not sure this poll can work, too many variables, mileage, age, condition, upgrades..
but I have been seeing some well sorted cars being sold, and imo they are being sold cheap.
I watched test videos of Lexus LFA vs R35GTR, i listened to loads of techno jargon on how they had to develop a digital rev counter to handle the cars response on the LFA etc... but still both cars with all that technology still get outperformed by an M400, on acceleration, lateral G, slalom, and within reason get matched on braking.
It still amazes me that all that technological wizardy is still being beaten by a simple and old design concept, and they are even further off the mark to matching a Noble on pure driving experience and pleasure.

Nah, I didn't think this would work - was just trying to get real, as opposed to advertised, prices.

I`d personally have a look at several at dealers that specialise in them and then subtract the premium that goes with a dealer item. That would give a base price for a model in that condition, spec, and mileage for a private sale. It`s then a guess as to what difference age, a higher/lower mileage, better/worse condition would make, plus the premium for a TDS if fitted etc. That`s what I did before I bought mine - privately. My guess is there is a £7K spread spread - maybe more - depending on the above factors....

Mine is up for sale at the moment for 28 on an 04 plate, I had a dealership offer to sell through them, where they were planning to advertise it for 30 (with warranty and they clean and service it etc.) but they would return me 27... I suppose they would probably look to realise 29 - 29.5 at the dealership and take their commission for the convenience.

So I guess price could be anywhere between that depending on whether you buy private or dealer and obviously condition and things... I'm sure some people are willing to pay more for the right colour etc. but I think trying to sell you Nob cheap won't make a lot of difference, because either somebody wants to buy a Nob or they don't smile

Due to financial circumstances beyond my control (although my bank manager seems to think they were within my control....) I'm looking at selling although the sensible thing to do i guess would be to wait until spring to get best value.

It's not what i want to do as i love the car and i know i will never be able to buy one to the same quality finish, nor indeed any other car that gives me such a grin, in the future without spending considerably more dosh. That said, the head sometimes has to rule the heart.

I am deliberating over the price and am sure that the price i would want (£22-23k for a well sorted 2.5l)would be mocked on these forums. We seem to be forever kicking anyone who asks a "full" price, being told "oh you'll never get that" etc etc. We should all be talking up the prices to maintain our investments, not knocking them, especially as we already own a noble and therefore have no need to by a new one. Prospective buyers read the forums therefore get advised by noble owners not to pay more than £xxx - that's bonkers in my book.

Apologies, rant over, i just get upset at the thought of selling.

Agreed Mike, they are becoming rare beasts so the value should increase.

First of all it's a shame you're being forced to sell.

Trouble is the market for these cars is small at best, even with all the recent press surrounding the M600, so there aren't many people looking anyway. Now with your car Mike, although it's been loved and modified very well it has been modified and in areas that some will like and others won't so the potential market for your particular car has decreased even further.
Now that could mean that you'd need to reduce your price to make a sale but on the other hand maybe it's value should reflect the time and money spent making it such a one off?

I'm on the fence with your car but would love for you - and everyone else - to make good money as the rarity value is there. I searched for a Noble for 2 years (mainly for financial reasons) and looked at many cars. I have since seen some of them for sale again and again and the price that they're listed for is sometimes more than the last (Kerridges current Larch silver for e.g.), so maybe if you're not in a rush start at £25k?

yes Certainly the good ones are (or at least holding their money), and one owner from new cars will be even rarer if you sell yours. wink So why are you thinking of selling? I'm sure you know that you're likely to regret it, particularly if you do so now, as Mike pointed out you'll do much better if you wait a few months (and you might have changed your mind by then biggrin).

Agreed...
If somebody asks a top price for a well sorted car, they do get mocked by the same people who also think the cars are the best thing since sliced bread, it doesnt make any sense.
If you know something is so good, then why not value it highly? People selling cheap is what lowers the market value, just as everybody asking top buck would raise it, but i understand sometimes people need a quick sale and that is fair enough, but i would not mock anybody for valuing their car high, because as we know they are worth it, especially the well sorted ones.

Its annoying to know you could never buy the same car back without spending more than what you sold it for, hence you know its true value, if the buyer doesnt then let them know and let then peruse the pros and cons.

Like i stated before, even though i got mocked, i sold my old GTO3)in the UK) for well over book price and well over what i bought it for and i got most of my money back that i spent on upgrades, there are buyers out there who prefer the work to be already done for them and will pay a premium for it, i am lucky in that i find a buyer like this each time i sell. The way i approach it is, what i consider a factual stand point, if you waant a car of this specification it cost this much, if you buy that cheaper car and want to bring it up to this spec, it will cost you more, now choose, and it all depends on what the buyer wants, if they want a higher spec car that is well sorted they will pay, simple.

I know they are only worth what you can sell them for before the knocking crew turn up, saying ahh but your being unrealistic and you can not get your money back for upgrades, you can, most of it anyway, so before i come under attack again, ask yourself are you talking from experience, you dont know until you try it, there are two ways to sell, cheap and fast, or wait for the right buyer to come along, who just wants your car!
You will find that if you price something high, it gets attention, buyers will start to ask questions, "why is your car so much more than the others advertised?"....."go and look at the others, test drive them, then come and look at mine and test drive" let them understand the differences, obviously it only works if Bob down the road doesnt have the same spec well sorted car on sale for less, but you have to price it accordingly to the others cars on the market, hence why people selling well sorted cars cheap makes it more difficult for you.
Now if i had priced that car cheaper, it would have given a hard time to somebody else selling cheaper, because then buyers are of the mindframe "why would i buy yours when there is a much higher spec one for the same price", it works both ways and you end up helping to knock the price down on your fellow nobblers cars.

I sold the GTO3 with 480bhp, really nicely maintained and looked after, the guy came looked at the shiny bits in the engine bay, shiny new exhaust and turbos, he saw everything was clean, the car was running well, slick gear changes, and was amazed by the way it performed over the other ones he had driven, and went away, 1 week later, he made it obvious he really wanted the car, "can i knock a bit of money off", i gave him 1k to seal the deal and transaction complete.
Now people may say "he was a moron"..... was he? he had been looking at Nobles for months, i think it was more of an educated decision.

My friend was renting a prime retail space in Larnaca, many people came along making lower offers, i said to him "why not accept surely its better than being empty", he said, "it is already at the right price i need to wait for the right buyer", next month he rented it full whack, because the difference was this particular buyer really wanted that location, where as the others were just looking for a bargain.

We are not all the same, some buyers want a stock car, some do not, some people do not want to pay extra to get extra, some people will be more than happy to, and last time this subject came up i note that everybody went quiet when Simon confirmed he had been made an offer on his car which would have given him most of his money back that he had spent to that date wink

I have been keeping it quiet until now (for obvious reasons) but my car is up for sale again, i love the car but it is wasted on me, too risky to drive it fast on the roads, everytime i drive it is risk prison, its too much money for me to personally use it as a track toy which is my next purchase, i have two daughters who argue over the passenger seat, and i'm getting old, i need a nice comfy Jag.
I wont say how much i'm selling it for because it will probably make certain people froth at the mouth.

That also my rant over..but a much longer one, as is my style smile..... after all it is in the nobility's interest to hold the value of these cars, the Uk market also has an effect on me,, but the Cypriots have trouble finding another M500 for sale to compare it to, i wonder why wink

There's some very good positive points being raised here, and two other things come to mind.1: With such a dearth of Nobles ( expecially M400's) for sale, I'm not sure the market is particularly seasonal any more.2: Am I the only person who is gobsmacked by the upward Sagaris values (a car inferior in nearly every important aspect IMHO),the trend being mainly the product of one dealer having the resolve to buy up stock and demand top top rates? It kinda proves the points made in this thread.
For me unless you're desperate, with so few about there's absolutely no need whatsoever to do anything other than ask strong money for a car as good as which is never likely to be built again at it's price point.
