My Sag has gone into winter storage and my Subaru broke down last weekend, so I'm without a car right now.

In theory, the car will be fixed by Sunday or I can arrange something else for then so I should be able to do the meeting still.

It's a bit late, but I'll see if I can do a route for Sunday. I know a good country lane one from where I live down into Royston, but its not for a lot of cars as the lanes it goes down are pretty narrow.

If not many people are coming for the run-in, then we could do that one, else I'll see what I can come up with if I get time.

Of course, if someone else has a route in mind they want to do, then just shout.

Okay, here is a possibility.

Review and let me know what you think. Lots of narrow lanes, some long straight ones for brisk paces - all within the law and safely of course! - and some main roads.

The route has about 3-4 speed bumps, but nothing serious. The narrow lanes require some careful navigation as they are pretty mental, but do see lots of different countryside. It is not a dull route, but does require some care.

Email me for the full route details if you are interested in seeing this route. Google doesn't really work with it

Ah, I give up. Google doesn't show it all correctly, but if you use your imagination, you get the general idea...

Hi folks

If no interest expressed in any guided run-in by end of today, I will not arrange anything and we will all just meet up at the usual time on Sunday.

Still without a car, so there might be a possibility I can't do Sunday, but I'm still expecting my car to be available by then.

Thanks

i think one of the problems with any run in is the start point ?
for me in east herts alex's run would be ok but those who live in beds its possibly to far to travel over to meet up
and then have to head all the way back to our meeting point , and the cost of fuel

if this run dosen't take place i think we need to put it to a vote on an agreed starting point that members are happy with
central for most of us ready for next year ?

as a suggestion hertford town centre is one option , buntingford ,stevenage all seem cetral to the region
so those that want to do run-ins next year please put down some options and suggestions for us all to consider or it just wont happen

Hi Alex, happy to do that route assuming everyone else is agreeable, will make a pleasent change from our usual ramble.

Give us a shout if you need a lift on the day, Jap stuff can be so unreliable thumbup

(Does £5 each way sound reasonable? wink)

It only takes about 10-15mins from Buntingford to the starting point for this route

That's why I usually like to start all our run-ins in Baldock its central to most people, but unless other people can come up with a route - its the best I can put together on short notice. If I'm leading one, I like to have some familiarity with the route and it does take time to put a route together.

Another possibility might be running in from St Albans or somewhere from Hertfordshire, but it is not exactly very interesting.

That's why I suggested it might be worth putting together a library of such routes from various people and we then rotate them over the year. But I will not be able to do anything on this until January. Too much on at work.

Thanks Keri!

Let me give you a buzz on Friday when I know what is going on if I still need one. More than happy to contribute to fuel costs!

Email with route instructions sent to those who said they are interested. If people still are then we will do it, else it will just be a normal meet up biggrin

If other people want to come as well. Email me and I'll send you the route

Yes it would be good to put together a libary of routes. I've got one to contribute. It starts in Hertford goes all around Essex as far as Thaxted and finishes in Baldock. (which of course can be changed to Hitchin.

I am up for a run on Sunday please email me the route.

Thanks Chas driving

Hi Chas

Thanks for that. If you can put the route into Google maps and send me the link then I can save it into my map space and generate a route plan from it.

Re: route for Sunday. I will knock up one of my (in)famous route plan PDFs tomorrow and push it to everyone. That will have the start time and the exact route we will take and the usual runin protocol and safety details.

At the moment, I'm assuming we have 3-4 cars joining us for this guided run-in.

Fair enough, mate. If you would like to suggest another route nearer then I'm happy to do it. smile

The main problem is doing a route I know enough at short notice. With NEC and my car breaking down, it's been rather a busy week in a negative sense of the word. Usually I spend a few days thinking about and then researching a route to do, but can't this week.

We could of course just meet up somewhere in Melbourne (outside of Royston) and drive in? That's about 40 mins or so from hitchin. For those who don't want to do the full route we will pass through Melbourne and they could join us there.

Would that work for you? Or do you have another route in mind?
