Avoid driving on it, if you get stopped by the police you'll get points for a defective tyre. You might get away with it if you have it booked in at the tyre fitters though.

Looks like it's hit something - mainly due to the corresponding mark on the wheel in the same area.

Either way, bin it - not worth the risk - especially if you drive on it and cause or are involved in an accident, as your foreknowledge of the damaged tyre is posted all over the internet ;-)

Yep, looks like it may have been pinched on a kerb or pothole.

Yup; just ordered a new tyre off mytyres; will go change it for the spare now.

Didn't look that large when I first noticed it (when I got home from work) but when I took those pics an hour later it seemed to have got worse. Really no idea what caused it; haven't had any major hits recently; spent most of yesterday and today in slow moving traffic and the wheels were off for a clean at the weekend and it wasn't there!

Bleb - usually caused by impact, the carcass inside the tyre has been damaged - needs replacing ASAP, and as stated, should not be driven on. If you are sure that you haven't hit anything, or want it validating, most tyre manufacturers will allow a return for inspection under complaint. So if you are replacing anyway, you can do this after it has been removed.

HTH smile

As per my usual caveat for tyre advice, if you want a second opinion, PM me a high res pic and I can get someone more knowledgeable than me to take a look

Indeed, kittens and babies will implode just from being in the same postcode as this murderous tyre.

More to the point...

If you drive on it and have a huuuuuuuge crash, this thread could be used to show you knew about the fault and chose to drive on it...

Just a thought.

I will confess here that I did 10K on a front tyre with a bulge like that on it once, a Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, so it doesn't spell certain death to drive on it. As others have said though, you should replace it ASAP and probably not drive on it.

A friend of mine when i was at Uni reutrned after a weekend at home saying that he had a bad vibration through the steering wheel , and when he had sped up to 110mph it had got worse. Turned out he had a buldge the size of my fist on the iside wall of his tyre yikes

Would have been a scary moment if it had gone at 110!
