Convertibles are....wait for it...for women.

Or so I now believe, thanks to some advice passed to me by a well-meaning fellow motorist, as I sat in traffic on Saturday.

I'm in a bit of a quandry now.

Do I punt the MX-5?
Do I turn my p...s inside out and tell everyone to call me Paula/Pauline?

OR

Do I create a thread on PH to mock this twunt and continue having a good (and cold) time and continue to ignore what these close-minded folks think?

Answers on the back of a postcard, please.

How soft are you, sitting in your car without a roof on a cold November? wink

Bet the "real man" who offered his helpful opinion did so from a heated cabin. The wimp. hehe

Convertible? For posing.

Open topped sportscar? For driving.

Two different things IMO.

i have the rood down in my 5 anytime its not raining and sometimes even when it is.

i find looking smug all the times help keep the nay sayers at bay. ive found looking very pleased to have the roof down puts questionable thoughts into other drivers minds as if theyre missing out.

also having a loud exhaust and playing childish games when people try and shout at you, just noise them out which leads to me looking smug.

What kind of symbol of De-masculation was this fellow driving?

It always makes me laugh when it comes from a Picasso or such like.
Hey guess what buddy - I'm be driving a puffs car but your mrs has you strung up so far by your balls, your only place in life is to pay for her to eat chocolate, get pregnant and transport her and her kids about in a Van. So long sucker! <engage first gear, 7krpm, snick into second, bit of a chirp, wind in hair, yup, total girls car....>

Same here. No point buying a convertible and driving around with the top up, is there?

I much preferred my MX5 with the roof up. Less wind noise, which made it much easier to hear that lovely revvy twin-cam engine.

Meh, my top has "seen better days", by which I mean that it's ripped to buggery and at speeds above 50 there's a terrible whapping noise

Ahh it's water off a duck's back thee days.

Spent the big chill all last winter with the top down, sure it was -13 or so according to my boss's car temperature-o-meter one day.

Exactly. If I had a drop top, I'd love to have it down on cold days! biggrin
