Peugeot 306 Rallye + car history
Discussion
Hi all,
This is my first post on Pistonheads, I'm not much a poster in general, been lurking for years before recently registering. I'm 26 now and I've had a fair few cars to this point, not all of them noteworthy but I always looked after them well all the same. I'm a qualified accountant now so the dream is to one day own a 911 GT3, that'll be after all the kids and the house the Mrs wants!
My list so far:
1989 1.1 Mk3 Fiesta
1991 1.4 Mk5 Escort
1997 1.4 Mk6 Escort
1996 1.9 306 D Turbo

1991 1.5 Civic LSi
1998 1.8 Mk6 Escort GTi

1991 2.0 Mk5b Escort RS2000

1999 1.8 Mk1 Focus

1990 1.8 Mk2 Golf GTi 16v

1984 1.8 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v

2003 1.4 Rover 25 (oops!)

2000 2.0 306 HDi

1998 2.0 306 GTi6

1999 2.0 306 Rallye

2005 1.9 Leon TDi FR (200bhp remap)

I have now sold the Leon so I can save towards a house so am running around in a 206 HDi in the mean time.
I still have the Rallye and intend to smarten it up over the winter, it has been sat on my mum's drive for the last 18 months. I'll post pics as I go.
I guess looking at that little selection I've not been overly varied in my purchases but I just love a 90's hatchback. And I had to move on from Fords as they rust too badly!

I didn't have the remap done myself. I don't think the first run was as standard, I think this may have been party way through the mapping?
Jord I would love to. However the Rallye doesn't look like that at the moment, it's on axle stands missing bumpers and skirts whilst I sort some minor underbody rust. Also needs a cambelt and windscreen.
You're on the GTi6 forum aren't you? I'm using Coskev's thread as inspiration. Where abouts are you located as I'd like a rebuilt beam but couriers would cost a bomb.

You work quick Jord! The beam is a little lower down my list, mine isn't fubar yet so I'm thinking that can wait til it's back on the road. But I'll bear you in mind in the new year.
Yeh the 306 was a nasty one. My first experience of lift off oversteer. It wasn't helped by budget tyres and a greasy road. Thankfully I walked away from that one... straight into oncoming traffic and broke my leg... and the oncoming traffic was a good mate!

Differences between the Rallye and GTi are not hugely tangible.
Basically the Rallye is without the leather and alcantara interior, no a/c, wind up windows, no foglights and a few other things.
It's maybe 50kg lighter, I can't remember. I'm just a sucker for the bright colour and stickers!

You have good taste.
How does the 306 Rallye compare with the GTI? What are the differences?
apologies for thread hi-jackHow does the 306 Rallye compare with the GTI? What are the differences?
from my experience, the rallye is a more sprightly car than the std gti6
i thought the gti6 i had was quick, but since owning my rallye, i can honestly say it's a better car
