Hi all, I am at present carrying out a little TLC under my Griff whilst the Diff is away for refurbishment. Apart from cleaning down chassis, painting up bits and eventually re-waxoiling I am looking to improve those parts that degrade and corrode. One of those is the painted exhaust mounting plate! This part on mine when removed as part of taking the exhaust off was in a grotty state, paint peeling and surface corroded. I decided this was a prime candidate for making in stainless steel. Therefore as a precursor to this I have had the whole plate drawn up and detailed on CAD, so as I can now send the file to a company I use who laser profile parts. My intention is to have it made in 1.5mm stainless steel, therefore eliminating all the corrosion problems. Should anyone like a copy in PDF of this drawing send me a PM with email address and I will send one through. I have also had made in stainless that rear exhaust hanger support plate, you know the crap thing that always corrodes and bends! Whilst I was at it I got one of our apprentices to make up a couple of the 'L' shaped hanger bolts in stainless (mild steel plated ones are £16 from a stockists!!).

Good stuff. The rear plate between the 2 exhausts fell off on the 500 (badly welded back on by a very well known TVR name) and obviously also then lost the L shaped pin. Had an exhaust bracket made by JP through ACT which also bolts around the 2 exhausts so much stronger. Be good to have spare pins though, and also be interested in stainless undersilencer pan, depending upon price.

Went a slightly different route with mine, 8mm thick alluminium. Probably a bit heavier but hopefully stronger and also looks bloody good IMHO.

Just got to get it anodised before i fit it.

Hi Andy, looks good mate. Yes it would be quite a lot heavier than a 1.5mm stainless plate with returns along the edge as original. I will go down the path of S/S as I will probably get my one FOC as we do bucket loads of work with the laser profiling company. I will be getting prices for a few off, so Matt will let you know. I might also get a few more of the stainless 'L' shape hanger support bolts made as well! Pete

Cheers Pete... I shall look forward to seeing some pics of the mounting plate. I have no idea what an L shape hanger is but if they are shiny put me down for a set of those as well! biggrin
