Ok, so here's the criteria:

Car has to be fairly small (ie. 4 - 4.30 meters)

It has to have 4 seats

It has to be good on motorways

It should be fun to drive

Performance should not be worse than 9 secs 0-62 and 130mph top speed

Budget £8k.

Not going to happen really. Small on the outside means small on the inside. Many small cars can be capable and fine on the m-way, but you seem to be hinting at wanting more.

You then want acceleration and a high top speed into the mix. Very unlikely to find much that has a genuine 130mph top speed I'd have thought, bearing in mind your other criteria.

Are you in Germany? Why do you need 130mph?

Is mpg, parts, or anything else important?


Not sure any of these are going to be good enough on the m-way....

EDIT. 4.5 metres is fairly sizable still.... maybe M-way cars are possible.

e.g.

Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 is only 4.672 metre long, so only just over what you are asking.

BMW e46 (330i/d) 4.471m

BMW 1 Series hatch 4.227m

8 grand shed! ive never had a car over 8 grand. You can but plenty of sheds for less than half that. My last shed was £275 worth of BMW E30.

Well,my £8k budget seems to have drawn the attention of quite a few of you. Situation is, I want to keep my Nissan 350Z but swap the wife's Ford KA (97mph) for something that was more fun to drive and not stretched on either A roads or motorways.

From what I see, you'd be struggling to find a Focus 2.0TDci or an ST for that amount. The more I think about it, perhaps the Focus diesel is the way to go.

well you can get something better than your 350z for 8 grand so why not ditch that? leave the wife to dink and scrape the KA in supermarket car parks.
