New Pistonheads Functionality

I have eagerly waited to see the new site this afternoon and I have to say it is really hard work for a user to do a simple search. The previous site was the best car advertising portal out there but I am afraid as it stands Pistonheads has made the same mistake Autotrader made when they changed their site and it is now slow to load and over complicated.
Sometimes things are best left alone and I can't see this will encourage users or advertisers in the format we see oady, sorry.

There have been several threads about it already. Stuart has explained what's happening, and you're going to give them a day or so to get all of the problems sorted. I've had a look at the classifieds and even though it wasn't working properly, I thought it's much better than the old site.
Well it's got an fu in it but i'm not sure the word is fubar!
I am sure it will be great when sorted but it may have been an idea to do some user testing on a beta site before pressing the button for launch.
Harder to create than to criticise so I think I should keep quiet as you guys are the technical bods not me

Nooooo, the old site worked, it worked well and was one of if not the best site out there for car hunting. Quick, simple and a nice clean set out. The new looks like it has been based on sites like Autotrader, fussy complicated page lay out, junk adverts cluttering the page and so slow you just give up, dont go down that route!! If you do, just please resist dumping adverts in the centre of the listings or even worse as AT have, have them flying in across the page making you click to get rid lol!! They drive you so mad you actually begin to hate the product being blasted at you.

Basically those are driven by the categories for driven wheels held by DVLA and in turn HPi, from where we get our data. We decided at go live to include all of these categories (in the interests of seeing what people wanted to use) but we will either suppress them if they aren't being used, or rename them to be more user friendly and better at describing what they mean.

Ooohh and you can do lots of exciting analysis, % of people searching for big engined cars, conversion rate to sale by tranmission type, path of users from big bhp (desire) to diesel econobox (reality), etc (sad data geek mode). 0a said:

Yeah you could do, but that isn't why we're doing it. The information is geeky but not of great use and only really in aggregated and anonymised form to make decisions about development. The main reason is just so that people can find cars more easily.
