I know PH loves the Roadhawk, but it's a little out of my pricerange...
I currently have a cheap £30 one from eBay, and it works brilliantly - but the qualities not as good as I'd like. Example - http://youtu.be/z6sfTUEX9go?hd=1
What I'd really like is :
720+p (no software interpolation)
Sharp image (sharp enough to read a registration number)
Switches on / off with ignition
Cycle recording (i.e. record a new file every x minutes, delete the oldest one when full)
SD card recording.
Don't care about GPS etc.
As an example of the image quality I'm looking for - http://youtu.be/lNi8o20y11I?hd=1&t=3m54s
I don't really want to spend any more than £50, but would spend up to £100 if the quality was amazing... would also want to see a sample video as well

Generally speaking putting videos of your own driving online is never a good idea.carl_w said:
Having come to a halt short of the keep clear section, why didn't you just let him out anyway?
Because the lights went green... just as I get there, you can see the Golf start to pull away. It's only because we ended up in a merry dance that I ended up being stuck on a red.

OP, better teach the missus to drive properly first, unless you just want to capture HQ vids of her inane driving for Youtube?
I was driving, she was a passenger...Anyway, I only linked to it to show the standard I have already to see if someone could find something better...
Have you watched all of the Russian Video?
Anyway this was done on my Sony Satio mobile phone mounted backwards in a £2.99 holder.

Unfortunately the solution needs to be permanent - I don't want to be able to forget to turn it on, or forget to mount it etc.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGcyxjqt2mk
Here's a video I made.
http://youtu.be/1ceEJvQa_48
It's a Veho Muvi HD camera, special Gumball 3000 edition which comes with loads of mounts for the car, helmet etc. it wasn't expensive, £150 or so I think. However, I returned it due to the crackling audio. I was assured it was just a faulty batch, but I opted for a refund so I could buy the new GoPro HD Hero 2.
Video quality was very good though, very good value for money. Waterproof, very good mounts, good suction mount. Held to the side of my car at over 100mph (on a track)

Private video
Did it to automatic & cyclic recording?
I currently have one of these from 7day shop http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?c...
Image quality is very good especially if you use HD. It does also cycle. You can select the size of the files (minutes). You can also mount it either way up. I also have a Roadhawk (Roadhawk up front and 7day shop jobbie in the rear). The image quality is far better than the Roadhawk and it also comes with a nice 2" preview screen and cables so that you can connect it up to a monitor.
The only negative thing about it is that the mount is a bit bigger than I would like, however I am sure that you could easily bodge something together. It's not such a big deal for me as it is attached to the side of the dog crate pointing out the rear window.
I'll see if I can remember to get some footage up tomorrow.

That is the exact camera I already have, but thanks anyway...Image quality is very good especially if you use HD. It does also cycle. You can select the size of the files (minutes). Yeah, I forgot about the original post and drifted off watching that video and episode 1 of the same thing. I have no idea what some of those drivers were thinking, scary!!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
