How do I sell my car???

Help and advice required please. Due to a change in job, I have to sell the TVR to make way for a German diesel motorway muncher - I hope it's only a temporary break by the way - but I'm finding it very hard to shift.

It's advertised on PH, AutoTrader and TVR CC and I think that the money is about right (although it was a little dear to start with as I didn't really want to sell it) but I've had very little interest. Can anyone recommend alternative methods of shifting it? I need to move it quite quickly now as the insurance runs out next month and I don't really want to fork out for another 12 month premium.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

When did you reduce the price?

I reckon it will sell with in 2 months at that price.

I'd second that - or David Gerald TVR in Inkberrow, Worcs, not far from your neck of the woods IIRC.

Have you thought about :

1) Parking it on Scarisbrick New Road In Southport with a For Sale sign. (Local Joke)

2) Taking it to a classic car show like Tatton, or other performance car show. They often have a For Sale section.

3) Autotrader (Always works for me !!!)

4) Ebay £1 start £25k RESERVE £30k BUY IT NOW. (Oaky number 2 and 3 were serious)

Logging on to NON TVR car owners sites.

if you need to shift it quick you need to reduce the price. £26k gives you an awful lot of choice of TVR's including dealer cars...

Though by selling to a dealer you'll get less £££. Depends how quickly it has to go; at least summer is here (technically at least!)

Potential griff buyers have had it soo much easier lately with all these good cars around.

If you can keep it at that price for a while. I reckon you'll get it.

If you cant give the dealers mentioned a call.
Although I suspect by now they may have called you!

If competition is strong amongst sellers you have to offer a little bit extra to induce a buyer to you. Myself I prefer to buy from a dealer at this price level and maybe others think the same. Throw in that inducement and swallow the cost or as others suggest dealer time. Good luck anyhow.

If a car is hard to shift then it's simple, the price is too high. It doesn't matter what people think is the correct price, the only thing that matters are the people with the cash who are looking.

A good price and a quick easy sale do not go hand in hand.

It seems to me that there arent many Griff buyers out their.
Griffs arent cars that sell quickly since there arent that many buyers around.

I reckon you should get a better picture of it too. Doesent look so appealing with dirty tyres.
Body work looks amazing though.

Agree with the DustMeister on this one, but would add that it seems to be a bit on the quiet side whichever TVR you're looking at according to some sources. It could just as easily turnaround any moment though, so don't get disheartened too soon! By which time I will have chosen to keep the Griff.

Also - see if you can negotiate your insurance at a month at a time or check what the policy is with returning the balance of the premium.

My insurer will cover me for a fortnight at a time if necessary, or will refund the difference if I cancel the policy within the month that I am paying for!

I contacted James Agger last week and since my post he has replied. I'll give Adrian Blythe a call too and see what he can do.

Beano - you're right about the insurance, I have spoken to them again today and my current insurer has confirmed that if I pay up front for 12 months, they will refund what I don't use pro-rata, so the mad rush to sell isn't so mad now, which is nice with all this sunny weather around to enjoy in it! I seem to remember reading a post of yours about a 525d that you have bought, is that right? If so, how are you getting on with it?

Fair comment about the dirty tyres, but I don't know when I'll get chance to clean them up if the weather stays like this.
