Personally, I can see why having a warship in the middle of it isn't perhaps the most picturesque thing for an Olympic poster, and regardless this is still a better effort from those ones released last week

But, how predictable that this immediately becomes OMG INSULT POPPIES AND WAR DEAD

She was hardly 'omitted'; you can't miss her in real life.

Just a load of PC bks.

What a horrible looking font on the graphics. 2012 is a complete design fail from my perspective.

It staggers me that people think that this (and the other ste posters, and the logos, and the mascots) was a good idea. What an odd world they must live in.

I reckon she is still in that picture.
And the dazzle camouflage is better than anyone ever thought.

Thing is, if you're going to blot out the war ship, you might as well finish the Shard while you're at it don't you think?

You two need to have a little chat with each other before posting.

I think it was right to airbrush it out, you should not have an implement of war as part of your advertising of a sporting event.

You just know that there will be cock ups like the German team having to give press conferences in 'The Spitfire Room' in some hotel, or the Argentinian team being located in a hotel on a street renamed Falklands Road.

In fact, thinking about it, the Falkland Island thing is a bloody great idea. Anyone up for changing street names plates one night next year? smilesmilesmile

I think the posters are getting worse, the one in the OP looks like it was knocked up in MSPaint cry

Although..... by having a crap promotion before the games, is this a sneaky way of lowering our expectations so that it makes the games themselves seem more impressive? Or is it just a stly put together fkup that's doomed to failure?

You'll probably find that they had a whole string of high cost meetings exactly about that and someone eventually decided that as it was funded by the Qataris they didn't want to risk offending the brotherhood. They probably consulted hoards of professional 'diversity' councilors biggrin

Theyve left various other 'ghastly' things in the Thames. Along with the half constructed building site that is the Shard, looks like that bloody half finished hotel in North Korea. A right eyesore. Its quite obvious they targeted the ship to be wiped from history.

Why do you give them the benefit of the doubt? These people hate Britain and need to be exposed for the fifth column they are.

A London 2012 spokesman said: "HMS Belfast was unfortunately excluded from one of the seven adverts for the London 2012 Festival.

"We are very sorry about this - it was a simple mistake in the advertising production process, and we apologise if this mistake has caused offence.

"The mistake has been rectified and posters without HMS Belfast in are being removed."
rofl

They don't even have the decency to say "we shouldn't have done it, sorry", they have to pretend that it was a mistake in a process. Presumably at the point where the process says "check that we haven't accidentally photoshopped out any warships". The whole Olympics thing is a debacle and an embarrassment. We are going about it with all the style, panache and capability of Bolivia.

IF you take that view, and I certainly don't, then take a picture from an angle where you can't see it. Don't airbrush things out. Too many negative connotations about rewriting history.

If it had been a view which didn't show the ship, no-one would have given it another thought.
These people are morons, so tied up in their love of gadgetry and technology that they have lost sight of reality.

ETA - oh, and when you get caught out, don't come up with a pathetic line like "it was a simple mistake in production". No. It was a deliberate decision which took many hours of work. Be honest, FFS.

That's arguably the worst bit, believing that we the public are borderline retarded and stupid enough to actually believe that. OK, a fair proportion of the public is retarded but for those of us who aren't it's pretty insulting.

How dare you be insulted - this decision was made to protect you from yourself!
