Mk 2 SLK, what to look for?

I'm thinking of getting a late mk 2 SLK, probably the 280. For reference I'm currently driving a mk1 elise 111S which I will keep. I just need something more toned down for a daily 20 mile each way commute in fairly congested traffic.
Any pointers on the following would be greatly appreciated:
What is considered a high mileage and when should I expect problems/big bills? Lots of cars seem to have 30k+ miles even at the main dealer.
Is the flappy paddle gearchange any good?
Is it possible/expensive to update the sat-nav maps?
Does the car rust - it will be used in all weather through the winter.
Other than looks, is there a difference between the 16" / 18" wheels?
