Great answer! You beat me to it.I recall a post on another forum.."my two dogs have put light scratches on my rear bumper when jumping up into the back. How can I get rid of them?"
My reply..." a vet will charge about £40 a dog, or just chain them up outside the animal rescue centre!"
No help to you I know, but my mate had the same plan a few years ago. He left the UK, 6 months later he had got as far as India then had to return home for his job. Put the car into a container and shipped it home, then jumped on a plane.
Wish I had the balls to do something like that

You won't get very far on balls...you need wheels! Wish I had the balls to do something like that

'There was a bloke who rode Sydney to London on a bike: http://www.thepostman.org.uk/'
... cool, that was me. Thanks for the mention.
OP, not sure why you were enquiring but if there's any info I can help with I'd be glad to; documentation, visas, route, that sort of thing.
Quite a common route now. There are a few tour companies doing it in buses over three months. On a motorbike is common, in a car slightly less so due to the cost of shipping over Burma, to Darwin etc. Said to be getting harder due to getting visas for places like Iran and Pakistan.
Anything else, just ask.

Couple of guys I bumped into recently are just finishing their overland trip. Ended up in Japan.
One of the brothers is in TV and has put together a very good animated site with detailed pics from each stop point and vid along the route. Sorry but the blog is in Flemish
May be of interest?

Vehicle they are using is unusual too
