Not sure if it is his field, but try Rob Kellock. Search for forum username rob.kellock

He is Lancashire based, and might be able to point you in the right direction.

www.freemankeepondriving.com I think is his site.

Rob Kellock is indeed a lawyer, and often to be found in the Porsche forum, but no idea if he does motoring stuff.

You can say that again.... Very many £££££s required.

Extremely effective though (or he was when he helped my brother to keep his license a few years ago).

Don't you have to be over 12 points to get a ban? Or is it the moment you hit 12?

You can, I think, have over 12pts, but keep driving - you have to appeal to the judge. A friend of a friend showed me that he had 15pts, none expired, but was still able to drive to 'visit his little boy'. All a total con of course, but it worked...

It is the moment you hit 12 although exceptional hardship (more properly titled "mitigating circumstances" can be argued in order to escape disqualification as a result of totting up.

Section 35 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 provides:

(1) Where -
(a) a person is convicted of an offence to which this subsection applies, and
(b) the penalty points to be taken into account on that occasion number 12 or more,
the court must order him to be disqualified for not less than the minimum period unless the court is satisfied, having regard to all the circumstances, that there are grounds for mitigating the normal consequences of the conviction and thinks fit to order him to be disqualified for a shorter period or not to order him to be disqualified.

(2) The minimum period referred to in subsection (1) above is-
(a) six months if no previous disqualification imposed on the offender is to be taken into account, and
(b) one year if one, and two years if more than one such disqualification is to be taken into account;

[etc...]

I have just used this guy, Marcus Johnstone, he is from Widnes so near to you. He was recommended to me by a friend who was caught apparently doing 111mph, I was accused of having gone through a red light by a following policeman and issued with an on the spot fine and three points. In my friends case, he heard no more after Marcus's intervention, in my case, I got a letter back from the police two days ago stating that after reviewing they would no longer be pursuing my case. I highly recommend him. http://www.speedingsolicitor.co.uk/
