Car damaged within 1 day of ownership!
Discussion
After scrapping my Saxo and finding out my girlfriend was pregnant the hunt was on to find myself a new car that would be able to cart us all about.
This was the first time I'd actually bought my own car with the Saxo and Cavalier before that having both been end of their life hand-me-downs. Being a lowly student with my sparse summer job savings I'd set myself the budget of a £1000 and after a couple of weeks, some poor viewings and cars going after I'd spent a day or two um-ing and ah-ing about whether or not they'd be worth looking at.
Saturday morning I'm on Autotrader and I spy an 03 Citroen Xsara for £995 that looked to fit the bill, not wanting to miss out again I quickly arranged travel to go and have a look.
A quick journey down the M62 and I was presented with a clean looking car, a minor scrape on the front bumper but looking good for the age. The interior was spotless. Started the engine and it sounded smooth enough and a quick test drive didn't throw anything that screamed run away. Surprisingly for a French car all the electrics worked, Auto-Light/Wipers, A/C, electric windows all round and even reverse parking sensors! I paid the asking price and said I'd be back Monday to pick it up once my insurance was sorted.
Monday couldn't come soon enough, go and get the car and drive it back down the M62 with no worries whatsoever!
Tuesday afternoon rolls along and I go into University, park up on the same street I've been parking on for 3 years and go into my lecture. 2 hours later I'm coming back to the car and thinking despite it not being particularly pretty from the front I've done quite nicely.
I drive home and really do feel quite pleased with it all. Park up walk around the car to go into my house and as I look back at the car notice to my horror that the bumper is hanging off slightly and there is in fact a rather large dent in the n/s rear wing! Someone has smashed into my car and driven off without leaving any details!

The police told me there's nothing they can do other than give a crime number to give my insurers, the cost of my excess/losing my no claims discount and subsequent insurance bump means I'm thinking it's not going to be worth it.
I think it's a local bus company as there are 3 different colours of paint left on my car that match the companies buses (however I've no proof), I've tried ringing them but this every time I've had 'Your call is very important to us but all our Customer Service Advisors are busy, please try again later' and quite frankly I'd have no idea what to say to them!
Anyway, not really sure what I want from this thread just still raging really and bah etc.
tldr; Picked up car on Monday, hit on Tuesday with no details left. FML.

I would be at the bus depot asking if they recognize the colors left on your car. Give them the date, and the times it was parked, and they should find the bus with corresponding damage to it.
No witnesses needed if they find the damages bus that has paint missing to match your car.
They should accept your version of events, because you can be damn sure that if you had hit them, the driver would have stopped.
I believe that most bus companies self insure, and have their own (good) repair facilities.
That is the route I would be going down were it mine.

They used to give them out for free at uni! Maybe the cuts have kicked in.Same thing happened to me recently, both car and wife. The car was in the work car park - no details left. I work with the prick who did it but I cant prove it.
