...so, i had my E60 M5 in for wheel alignment the other day at a specialist centre near me as it was pulling to the left and i'd just had new tyres fitted.

I've now been blessed with DSC problems and according to BMW this has happened when the tracking was done as the steering wheel is off centre according to the sensor.

BMW want £250 to do a 4 wheel alignment which i'm happy to pay providing they do it properly. So, does anyone have any experience of BMW's alignment system and is £250 the going rate? I'm based between Bristol and Swindon so happy to travel to the best dealer and have it done properly.
Thanks

They just need to reset the steering angle sensor. Shouldn't cost any more than £30 I believe. No need to do a full alignment again unless the place you had it done at originally are no good. Do you expect that?

They'll want to do an hours diagnostics session for the fun of it i'd imagine and then sort out the issue. Thats where the £250 is going in my opinion.

Agreed. The battery light on my E46 M3 came on which is an alternator on the way out (which is usually a recovery job if it fails) and went to my local dealer as was 5 mins away. I told them it was the alternator but they had to put it there 'diag' machine for an hour only for them to tell me it was the alternator!

Back to topic... if its a KDS geometry alignment they are doing, then i was charged about 170 a couple of weeks ago from the dealer so 250 sounds excessive - unless there hooking car up to there diag machine.

I've been researching. Centre Gravity seem to get some good write ups. Have anyone taken an M powered car to them for set up?

Was the steering wheel off centre before the alignment and did the alignment correct it?

Might be worth having a chat with ray at West tuning Thruxton, he's got all the diagnostics if it is just a reset and does a lot of high end alignment (race cars / track cars etc)
