Are the BBC being insensitive?

Just turned on the telly, to see the BBC showing "Motorway Cops"... and within 5 mins, they're talking about how people can be severely injured, or decapited (their example) etc etc.

Ignoring the amount of pointless st this programme normally spouts about speed being the root of all evil, surely the BBC should be a little more sensitive given the horrendous events on the M5?

Or is it ok to show it as it's "topical"?

People die on the roads every day, so I wouldn't say it was insensitive. No one is forcing the M5 crash victim's families to watch it.

As others have said, sadly people are killed in accidents all the time so if you were going to pull it to avoid upsetting someone involved in an accident you'd end up never showing it.

Insensitive ..NO ..informative yes ..especially re the dangers of inattention ...anyway that pales into insignificicance once Hazel the lovely vehicle examiner appeared.

I think the time to be sensitive was probably when they were broadcasting live footage from pretty much any possible angle. Personally I find the idea of reporters camped out on any bridge with a view of a distant crash scene to be far more insensitive and distasteful.

Sometimes cop shows are just entertainment but I think tonights one was quite a timely reminder that motorways are dangerous places.

Perhaps if people were more consciously aware that they need to treat driving with care, fewer tragedies would happen?

I don't see any problem with broadcasting that message at any time.
