which hotel to stay at on Copacabana beach, Brazil

I want to stay in a nice hotel for my 30th in January, all hotels seem so expensive which is not the problem, its the fact all reviews seem mediocre. Obviously Copacabana Palace is highly recommended but are there any other genuine good quality suggestions? £300 per approx budget.

In which case don't take a girl friend.

And don't stay at the Copacabana Palace. Far too grand for the sort of things you'll want to get up to.

The Meridian is a good bet (or was 15 years ago).
